SYCAMORE, IL –April 6, 2022– Sycamore natives and empty-nesters, Tim Kelley and Trisha Dodge, wanted to stay in the town they love but decided it was time to leave the busy street they backed up to and streamline their lifestyle.
“We knew we wanted to stay in Sycamore but needed a change,” Tim said. “Originally, we started looking at older homes close to downtown Sycamore but then we came across some ads for Reston Ponds. When we saw the community, the large homesite that backed up to the pond and the new ranch home, we knew we were in the right place.”
Located just north of I-88 and east of Peace Road in Sycamore, Reston Ponds is a master-planned community featuring six ponds and a new 12-acre Sycamore Park District community park. Reston Ponds is adjacent to South East Elementary School, part of Sycamore School District 427, which was rated in the top 10% among more than 500 school districts in the state of Illinois. The community is within walking distance of downtown Sycamore and is minutes from the I-88 employment corridor, Northern Illinois University and Kishwaukee Hospital, part of Northwestern Medicine.
“We chose the Geneva ranch floor plan,” said Trisha. “While we don’t necessarily need one-level living now we wanted to look ahead to a time where stairs may not be ideal. We loved the openness of the plan as well as the cathedral ceilings in the family room and a large basement we will finish. We have a 19-year-old son that spends time with us as well as a granddaughter, who visits regularly, so we have plenty of room and enjoy our big backyard.”
Offering 2,059 square feet of living space, the Geneva ranch includes three-bedrooms, two baths, island kitchen open to the casual dining area and great room, master bedroom suite with walk-in closet and private bath, two-secondary bedroom served by a full hall bath, basement and attached two-car garage.
“We added a four-car garage, upgraded cabinets and added a soaking tub to the master bath, which I love,” Trisha said.
In addition to the Geneva ranch, buyers can choose from a collection of ranch and two-story designs ranging from 1,613 to 2,595 square feet with prices starting in the $330s.
“The professional design team that helped us in Shodeen’s design center were terrific,” Trish said. “I don’t have the best decorating style or vision and they took the time to work with us to coordinate everything and it came together beautifully.”
Reston Ponds with walking distance to downtown Sycamore and its charming shops and restaurants. The Sycamore Park District, which offers classes for children of all ages, operates the public golf course, community pool and splash park as well as a community center and fitness facility.
“Shodeen did a nice job on the exterior of our home, especially with the fully-landscaped homesite that includes sod,” Tim said. “The home is move-in ready with little to do but unpack boxes.”
The couple added that Reston Ponds is a friendly neighborhood and have been made to feel very welcome.
“There are a lot of young families here and we enjoy sitting on our front porch and watching the kids play and ride their bikes,” Trisha said. “We look forward to summer barbecues and get- togethers with our neighbors. We’ve been here five months and we’re very happy.”
